Repurposed Baby Sling

When I was pregnant with my daughter, Corinne, I wanted to have a baby sling so badly to tote her around in, but just couldn't fork out the money that they were asking for them, nor did I like the fabrics they were made out of... boring and cheap looking!
I found some Amy Butler fabric that was just perfect and made my adorable sling....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, Corinne is now 4 1/2 and I'm obviously done using that baby sling... but, what to do with all those yards of gorgeous fabric?!?
Reuse it!  Here's the quilt I made out of that fabric!  Didn't it turn out cute!?!

I did the piecing and my awesome mom, (once again!) did my machine quilting... this time custom!  I pretty much let her do whatever she wants on my quilt because she does such a great job (and has WAY more experience than I do), but I DID have a request on this one... FEATHERS!  Aren't they beautiful!?!
Check out her blog too!  http://addicted-to-fabric.blogspot.com/

More pics...

Corinne LOVES this quilt... Although I don't know that I'm giving it to her quite yet!  Too much white to trust a four year old with! :)

Pile O Fabric BOM Free Motion Quilting

So, I'm really thinking my post should have been called "FREE MOTION FEVER" because I've definitely "caught" it!  This was my very FIRST time fmq and I love it!  I'm participating in a skill builder block of the month over at www.pileofabric.com and am having so much fun!!!

Tatum's Quilt

My super cute ten year old niece, Tatum requested a "zebra print and hot pink" quilt from her Auntie Christina.  I bought this pattern from www.freshlemonsquilts.com several months ago and thought this would be perfect for her!  I added borders too to make it fit her twin sized bed!

My Mom did all of the quilting on her long arm!  Isn't she amazing!?!
The minky on the back really shows off the cool panto she used!

It just HAD to have a zebra print label to finish it off!

I am participating in my very first BOM!  Its so much stinkin' fun!  How come I haven't done this earlier?!?  Anyways.. Here are the first two blocks!  We are learning how to free motion quilt them later in the month.  If you want to join this fun BOM and learn how to create come cute modern blocks... join us!

Here are my fabrics...

This is the "SOUND WAVE" block...

And, this is "MAGNUM!"

Mug Rug

Loved these little scraps, wanted to practice my free motion quilting and needed a place to put my tea while I sewed without it leaving condensation all over the place.... Loving this lil mug rug!!!

Lil' Chunk of Heaven

Just wanted to show you all my cute little sewing space....My husband made this 6ft long table, fit for my machine!  It is so wonderful to have a long table!  :)

Amish Church Pew.... Upcycled!

I bought two of these "gems" locally for only $40 for both!  My Dad helped me pick them up and was a little concerned wondering what in the world I saw in these two benches!  LOL!

According to the woman I purchased them from, she purchased them from an antique store in Cambria, California and was told that they were Amish church pews from the late 1800s.  She kept them in their original condition (they were painted white before she bought them) for 15 years and decided it was finally time to let them go.
You have no idea how excited I was to find these!
